In November 2020, Bragg discussed the potential case against then-President Donald Trump involving his former "fixer," Michael Cohen. Cohen had entered a guilty plea to federal tax evasion and campaign-finance violations in 2018, in connection with a $130,000 "hush money" payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels. Bragg noted that the charging document in Cohen's case referred to an unnamed "co-conspirator" who became president in 2017. Bragg suggested that the evidence was "charge ready" and that it was a matter of prosecutorial discretion.
