    In an interview with CNN, Adams said that Lightfoot's loss is a warning sign for the country. He said, "It's a warning sign for the country that we have to be very careful in how we approach public safety. We have to make sure that we don't just focus on one issue, but that we look at the entire picture of what's happening in our cities." Adams believes that mayors are closest to the problem and that public safety is a prerequisite to prosperity in American cities. He also addressed criticism from some Democrats, saying that polls showed New Yorkers felt unsafe and that he speaks to everyday working-class people who are concerned about safety.

According to the Ohio governor's office, 4,832 cubic yards of soil have been excavated and more might be removed. The material is being transported to landfills and disposal facilities that are designed to accept it safely in accordance with state and federal regulations.
